Our program courses were so useful for us of courses and I could get and increase my experience from these courses.
My experiences increased in some courses as in food biotechnology equipment (with Professor Maksim Mironov), quality control of biotechnological products (with Professor Elena Kovaleva), basic biotechnological metabolism (with Professor Maksim Zahartsaf), plant biotechnology and innovative biotechnology (with Professor Irina and Professor Nouraly from Kazakhstan). So, my knowledge increased in this courses a lot and I got new ideas which helped me in my research work in my master degree or in my Phd now.
I could find good job in Russia after the master degree in some dairy and honey companies in the quality control or in chemical laboratory or production. This mostly was the help of course the Russian language that all my professors helped me to increase it, as well with the help of some courses as (quality control, dairy product). Also, I found a job as the laboratory quality of beer factory and this with the help of the course of beer and low alcoholic beverages (it was not my specialty in master by I read the material and got some experience from my professors for that I could find this job). Only, I could not sign the final contract with one of this companies because of some problem related to my new university and my visa of study that I have now.
Now, I am Phd student in ITMO University in the department of food biotechnological products from plant raw materials. Of course my previous study in UrFu helped me a lot in my study and my research work now in the PhD.
Our program really were so useful , only I think that our professor can increase the point of practice of us inside some useful varies industries (as beer, dairy, bakery industries and others), also to increase our relation with people inside these industries so we can after find some job with them after we finish the master degree. I know now that there is some combination with ITMO University to improve the program but I think this combination need to be also with more departments as international central laboratory, applied dairy department and meat & fish department. This is to increase the practice and the experience of the master students, as well to find more equipment in each specialty more. Or, our professors try to establish a complete laboratory for dairy products analysis and production in UrFu as well other for meat & fish and bakery analysis and production.
Also, we hope to find Phd study for our department in UrFu, so we complete the study in the same university
For me my general opinion about UrFu, UrFu in one of the best universities in Russia and I advise all my friends in Egypt to apply for it. This, because the university knows very well how to treat the international students and the university is so ready for this work. Really, I will never find like Urfu University. I hope that I can return to it one day. I am so proud to be student in UrFu University.
Finally, thanks a lot for all my professors and very one present in UrFu because they are all helped us and supported us a lot. Many thanks for your help for me and to improve me. I hope I can be with you all a gain.
I received my Master Degree in Food Biotechnology in July of 2017 from Ural Federal University, and I would like to take this opportunity to express how great a pleasure is was to be a part of this university for 2 years.
Each and every person involved in my academic career has played a vital role in the successful completion of my degree requirements. From the bottom of my heart, I would like to thank Ural Federal University, all the course instructors, teachers, staffs, campus staff and management for the wonderful and knowledgeable time I have spent in university.
I cannot express enough my sincere gratitude to Prof. Kovaleva, our faculty adviser and program director, who is a great woman, mentor and teacher with a sharp vision and limitless amount of knowledge and experience. We can all spend a lifetime just learning from her, and it still wouldn’t be enough. Above that, she is like a mother to all of us. We all hold for her a huge amount of respect and appreciation deep inside our hearts. Thanks to Prof. Kovaleva for believing in me when I personally didn’t believe in myself. I thank her for accepting my application and giving me the opportunity to be part of this formidable journey and experience of being an UrFU student.
I joined Prof. Mironov's research group for my project work. He is very kind and with a nice personality. He is like a friend to us and I never hesitate to tell him if I have a problem with something because I know he is very supportive and caring. During my studying, he helped me in several times when I faced problems related to my study. I'd like to express my deep gratitude for everything he has done for me.
I would also like to express my sincere gratitude and respect to all of my teachers for constant support during my studying.
In addition, Prof. Zyryanov (Department of Organic & Biomolecular Chemistry, UrFU) was also my co-supervisor for project work. He is a very knowledgeable person that has guided me through all levels of doing research. After getting my M.S. under his supervision with a couple of papers published in prestigous journals. In the consequence, I have started my PhD with him, as well, and I am sure nothing like his guidance and support can help me to achieve my future goals.
It would be a great pleasure if I could help better the university in any way.
Thank you, and everyone else, once again.
I am also thankful to the Government of Russia, Ministry of Education for providing me the tuition fees for carrying out my study.
Finally, I thank to the Almighty God for being there with me on the path where no one else can.
Regarding the courses received, I would like sincerely to thank you all: the Russian government for granting me a scholarship despite my age, all the lecturers who have trained and supervised us and all those who, from near or far helped us for the success of our stay in Russia.
In any case, all the lecturers were up to scratch, starting with all your lectures related to quality control, beer, etc. They currently allow me to focus on specific goals with my students. There is also and especially Dr. Irina’s lectures: nutrition and homeostasis, the binomial lecturers of Kazhastan, the Doctor Mohamed Darkanzali. Dr. Zakartsev's lectures have given me a good understanding of the biocatalysis (enzymology) and glucidic metabolism that I currently provide in metabolic biochemistry in a simplified way to my students. Professor Mironov's lectures were interesting and really practical for the company, and so on.
Sincerely, I would have had the red diploma if the lectures had been done in French or if I was a pure English speaker, because as a teacher and a professional, all the lectures were interesting for me and met my expectations.
Moreover, since last week, I am teaching microbiology courses with a biotechnological tendency to bachelor students at a higher institute: www.inphb.ci.
As suggestions, I would say to include in the Master’s program if it is possible; detailed courses on fermentation, quality management.
Hoping to provide you with more suggestions depending on the realities of the field, receive all my sincere greetings from the bottom of my heart and thank you for your availability.
Rest assured that I will not forget you and I will never forget you.
I am Duru Kingsley, a masters graduate of food biotechnology. I obtained my bachelor degree in Microbiology at Abia State University, Nigeria .After completion of my undergraduate studies, studying in abroad to gain international experience has always fascinated me. I remembered searching for masters program in biotechnology only for this unique program “Food Biotechnology” to pop up on my computer screen, and it really caught my attention. I read through the program outline, the rich history of Ural federal university, and the testimonies of international students, thereafter I concluded that Ural federal university is the right destination for me.
Leaving for Russia after being admitted by the university was eureka moment for me, not knowing what to expect, I was determined to survive in my new environment. Faced with the harsh weather condition, and language constrain, the only option left was for me to adapt, and that did not take long, thanks to the international support section of the institution. Generally, my expectations were well met on arrival and continued throughout the duration of my studies.
During the course of my studies, I was privileged to be tutored under vast professors but the most remarkable were Prof. Elena G. Kovaleva who was my masters thesis supervisor, and Dr. Maksim Zakhartsev. The food biotechnology program was designed to offer expert knowledge in advanced food technologies and processing, design of new foods and career building. My masters’ research which focused on green extraction of Isoflavones from soy molasses, opened me up to the humongous potentials of bioactive compounds in addressing metabolic disorders, this further shaped me to seek a PhD research. Presently, I am researching on the production of novel anti-diabetic functional food comprising of Isoflavones and Inonotus obliquus extract.
I really appreciate the administrative board of food biotechnology for their continual effort towards improving the program and taking it to greater heights, also my sincere appreciation goes to all the lecturers and laboratory assistant for their continual strive to take the program to newer levels.
